Bear’s Leg Pistol
Purpose-Built for Possibility
Old West Icon. Modern Utility.
The trimmed-down lever action pistol, better known as the Mare’s Leg, is an icon of Old West imagery, thanks to Steve McQueen. The Bear’s Leg carries that format into the 21st century with a utility-minded approach shaped by how Henry owners are using their firearms today.
In developing the Bear’s Leg, we paid close attention to the way modern lever guns are being set up in the real world: lights, red dots, accessories, shooting suppressed, and adapting rifles to more specialized roles. The result is a compact, hard-use lever action pistol that blends classic Henry styling with modern capability.
Available in Proven Calibers
The Bear’s Leg Pistol is offered in a range of chamberings to suit different needs, preferences, and applications.
.357 Magnum / .44 Magnum
For those looking for a more approachable, highly versatile setup, the pistol-caliber H12 Bear’s Leg models offer reduced recoil, faster follow-up shots, and broad all-around practicality for use on the property, in the truck, at camp, or on the range. The .357 Magnum version also cycles .38 Special, and the .44 Magnum version also takes .44 Special, for an even tamer experience.
.30-30 Win
A long-trusted hunting and ranch cartridge, .30-30 Winchester brings serious close-range capability to the H9 Bear’s Leg platform while preserving the familiar feel and function of a traditional lever action.
.45-70 Gov’t
For maximum authority in minimum space, .45-70 Government makes the H10 Bear’s Leg its boldest expression. It is a hard-hitting option for those drawn to the raw power and heritage of one of the most legendary lever action cartridges of all time.
Compact by Design
The Bear’s Leg is built around a compact overall profile (25.1” overall length) that makes it easy to store, carry, and deploy where a full-size rifle may be less practical. Whether riding shotgun in a truck, packed into camp gear, kept close on the property, or carried as a field companion, it is designed for situations where space matters but capability still counts.
Built for Accessories and Adaptation
A factory-threaded barrel comes standard, while the polymer handguard features M-LOK® slots and a Picatinny rail section for lights and other accessories. Fiber optic sights provide a fast, highly visible sight picture across a wide range of lighting conditions.
These features give the Bear’s Leg the flexibility to run well as-is or serve as the base for a more tailored setup. It is a firearm designed not only for what it is out of the box, but for what it can become in the hands of its owner.
Ready for the Next Step
The Bear’s Leg also offers a straightforward path to a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) conversion where legally permitted and with approved ATF paperwork. With no need for cutting, threading, or permanent modification, it is already configured for those who want to start with a solid factory foundation for a more compact suppressed build.
Familiar Henry Handling
Despite its more modern configuration, the Bear’s Leg remains unmistakably Henry. A large loop lever supports confident operation, including with gloved hands, while the side loading gate allows the magazine tube to be topped off without interrupting use when a suppressor is installed.
Material and finish choices emphasize durability and long-term use. Henry’s signature blued steel finish and robust furniture are built to stand up to transport, storage, and field conditions while maintaining the visual character expected of a Henry.
A Classic Reimagined
The Bear’s Leg Pistol brings together heritage, compactness, and modern adaptability in one distinctive platform. Offered in pistol and rifle calibers alike, it gives users the freedom to choose the level of power and utility that best fits their needs, all in a format that is ready to run as-is or ready to be configured their way.
