Earning the status of a Top 100 Henry Dealer is not about selling more Henry rifles and shotguns than everyone else. Above all else, it’s about treating customers the way that we would treat our customers if we were to open a brick-and-mortar retail store. It’s something that we know a thing or two about from stories told by Henry President and Owner, Anthony Imperato’s time behind the retail counter of his family’s gun business in downtown Manhattan. A Henry Top 100 Dealer must live and breathe customer satisfaction from the owner and every employee behind the counter. From day one, Jay’s Sporting Goods has done just this, and it’s why they are still around today with not one, but two Henry Top 100 Dealer locations.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, Jay’s Sporting Goods was started by Jay Poet and his wife Arlene in 1971 out of a 1-car garage in Clare, MI. A second location was added in Gaylord in 1987, and while both of these locations have moved into substantially bigger buildings since, they are both still located in the two original cities where they started. To this day, Jay’s is still family-owned with JJ Poet, Jay’s son, now running the ship.

From their customer service, to their selection of Henry rifles and shotguns to choose from, their affordable pricing, and their ability to treat you like part of their family, Jay’s Sporting Goods deserves your business if you’re in the Michigan area and looking to make a purchase for just about any of your outdoor needs. Outside of firearms, Jay’s also carries a huge inventory in their archery, camping, hunting apparel and footwear, fishing, home and cabin, pet supplies, and watersports departments. Truly a one-stop-shop.

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Jay’s Sporting Goods chose two different Henry models, the Golden Boy and the Classic Lever Action Carbine, for a limited-edition run with custom engraved buttstocks.

Jay’s Sporting Goods also runs a non-profit organization called, “Living The Dream,” with a mission to provide once-in-a-lifetime dream hunts to deserving individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity. To learn more about “Living The Dream,” click here.

We are very fortunate to have businesses like Jay’s Sporting Goods selling our firearms, and we wish them all the best in their next 50 years of business! Pay them a visit if you’re ever in the area and tell them Henry sent you.

I live exactly 17 miles from two different brands of big box outdoor stores, one to the north and one to the south. I live 204 miles from Jay’s in Clare. I shop them all but I frequent Jay’s in Clare more often than the others combined. I have also made purchases at Jay’s in Gaylord on several occasions. The big box stores are great but Jay’s is different. Their entire staff is focused on the customer first and the quality of the experience. Their people have real life knowledge about their respective departments and I would consider them all experts in what they do. If big box stores are like fast food, Jay’s is like grandma’s home cooking with the family around the table.

This looks like a great store I’m looking forward to coming there to check out rifles. Right now I’m looking for a 22 so I can teach my two boys about gun safety and target shooting

I am looking to buy 2015 single shot 308. Would like it equipped with ghost ring rear sight and a light wave fortnight. Or perhaps a brass bead frontsight.. Do you have any 308 Henry single shot rifles?

Jay’s is a great company with great people. I live a considerable distance, but love to visit Jay’s in Clare at least once every year.

They compete with the giants like Cabela’s but have a much more personal atmosphere. Their archery shop is top notch and has helped me a lot. Their gun selection is pretty extensive as well.

They have everything you may want or need for an outdoor adventure. I was surprised to see them when I was browsing Henry’s website.
