Henry and Big Woods Bucks Launch a Specialized .308 Carbine for Deer Season

RICE LAKE, Wis., June 15, 2026 — Henry is now shipping the H14 Long Ranger Big Woods Carbine, designed in collaboration with Big Woods Bucks (BWB) for whitetail deer hunting in tight timber. The rifle was unveiled at a launch event held at Frank’s Gun Shop in Amsterdam, New York, with representatives from both Henry Repeating Arms and Big Woods Bucks on hand.
The H14 Long Ranger Big Woods Carbine builds on Henry’s proven Long Ranger platform with changes driven by a single purpose: to give serious woods hunters a lever-action rifle ready for the specific demands of hunting and tracking in heavy timber, where shots are close, windows are short, and the rifle has to come up fast.

The carbine features a shortened 18.5-inch round blued steel barrel, bringing the overall length down to 39 inches and the weight under 7 pounds. It’s fitted with a factory-installed Skinner peep sight at the rear, paired with a bright fiber optic front sight. The combination is designed for the low-light, fast-acquisition demands of timber hunting.
Chambered in .308 Win / 7.62×51 NATO, it carries four rounds through a geared lever action with a six-lug rotating bolt face for strong and consistent lock-up. The receiver is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum with a hard-anodized matte black finish.
BWB is a group of expert woodsmen from the Northeast known for their immersive approach to traditional whitetail hunting in heavy timber. The genuine American walnut buttstock carries the BWB logo engraved and colored in green plaid, marking the rifle’s collaborative origins and intent.
“The Long Ranger Big Woods Carbine is the perfect choice for lever-action hunting in the Big Woods,” said Master Maine Guide, author, and expert tracker, Hal Blood. “The short, light, smooth action topped with a Skinner peep sight is the perfect combination.”
“The Long Ranger has always been one of our most capable hunting platforms, and this collaboration gave us a clear direction for what a timber-specific version should look like,” said George Thompson, Director of Product at Henry Repeating Arms. “We’re proud of the trust that the BWB has placed in our Long Ranger, and I look forward to seeing our customers’ successful hunts this upcoming deer season.”
