Henry Honors Vets with Tribute Rifles & Donation to The Journey Home Project as Sponsor of Charlie Daniels 40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam
On August 12th we were honored to recognize 4 war heroes on stage with Charlie Daniels during the 40th Anniversary of his Volunteer Jam at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. Anthony Imperato, our company’s president, gifted the rifles to thank the veterans for their heroic contributions to our country. The presentation was made midway through The Charlie Daniels Band’s set, with Charlie standing by. Anthony also presented Charlie Daniels with a customized Henry Golden Boy rifle embellished with the Volunteer Jam logo and an inscription reading ‘Presented to Charlie Daniels- Thank you for your patriotism and all that you do for our veterans.’

Henry Repeating Arms $100,000 check to The Journey Home Project
Anthony Imperato singing back-up during The Devil Went Down to Georgia
As lead sponsor our company donated $200,000 to The Journey Home Project, the non-profit organization co-founded by Charlie Daniels and his long-time manager David Corlew. TJHP connects donors with the veterans’ organizations that do the most good in meeting the health care, education and career needs of military servicemen and women and their families. The check reads $100,000 but Anthony was so moved during the concert he decided to make Charlie an offer he couldn’t refuse – he would double the amount if Charlie let him sing with him – which he graciously agreed to.
The sold-out crowd at the Bridgestone Arena was brought to a standing ovation when the Veterans were brought onstage. You can watch the presentation above.
The honorees were:
Jack ten Napel, a 95-year-old WW2 Veteran who served in the USMC. Mr. ten Napel survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor and went on to serve on every island in the Pacific. Out of his original outfit of about 400 men, he is one of eight who survived until the end of the war.
Scott Schroeder, a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient was recognized for serving in the U.S. Army for 26 years. During his final tour in Afghanistan in 2010 Mr. Schroeder lost both legs when his vehicle ran over a pressure plate and was blown up.
Sam Schoenheit, a USMC Staff Sergeant was honored for his bravery after being shot in the head during an ambush and later suffering a stroke. Mr. Schoenheit spent the last seven years accomplishing his goals of regaining his speech, ability to walk, expression, and a college degree.
Ryan Weaver, a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the United States Army was recognized for his courage during his deployment in Iraq as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot and for his continued commitment to the military upon his return from combat by training the next generation of Army aviators and officers at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Scott Brown, an Operation Iraqi Freedom Combat Veteran of the USMC who served with Chris Kyle and co-founded the Chris Kyle Memorial Benefit & Auction was presented with a Henry Military Service Tribute rifle on the Henry Rifles Stage in the outdoor plaza during the free show for concert-goers and bystanders.

Anthony Imperato, President of Henry Repeating Arms, thanking Edgar Harrell, a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran and survivor of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis for his service to our country.
Henry Repeating Arms Honors Veterans, 1st Responders and an NRA Instructor at The NRA 2015 Annual Meetings & Exhibits on April 9, 2015
As a sponsor of the event, Anthony Imperato, President of Henry Repeating Arms, chose to recognize local heroes of the community who’ve proven to go above and beyond the call of duty by inviting them to the stage to thank them for their service. Each honoree was presented with a rifle from Henry’s line of commemorative tribute rifles.
Imperato called forward 19 first responders, veterans, and active military members to join him on stage, reading aloud their accomplishments of service to our country and its citizens. The emotional response from both Imperato and the crowd was an incredible sight as they gave a deafening standing ovation to these men and women – true heroes for our country.
Henry Repeating Arms President Anthony Imperato talks with Mark Keefe about his company’s charitable causes.
Imperato started by proclaiming NRA Instructors the unsung heroes of the firearms industry. “They take their personal time and spend their own money to promote firearm safety and teach youth shooting sports so our traditions can continue,” he explained. Instructor Leroy Farris of Rockvale was brought to the stage and presented with a Henry Silver Eagle rifle.

L to R: Officer Katy Davis of Knoxville received a Law Enforcement Tribute Rifle; Joshua Smith, a firefighter Engineer of Franklin received a Firefighter Tribute Rifle; and Amy Moore, a flight nurse of Ethridge received an EMS Tribute Rifle
“Thank You for saving lives every day,” Imperato said as he presented first responders to thank them for their service. Amy Moore, a flight nurse of Ethridge received an EMS Tribute Rifle; Joshua Smith, a firefighter Engineer of Franklin received a Firefighter Tribute Rifle; and Officer Katy Davis of Knoxville received a Law Enforcement Tribute Rifle.
The final presentation recognized those who fought and risked their lives for our freedoms by serving or currently serving in the Armed Forces. Four Active Duty and eleven Veterans received a Henry Military Service Tribute Rifle. “These men and women along with their families sacrificed to protect this great country of ours, and we owe our freedom to them today,” Imperato said, choking back tears. “Thank You for your service to our country, God Bless You and God Bless the United States of America,” he continued as the crowd of 2000 people stood and applauded the honorees.

L to R: Master Sergeant Heather Yates of Estill Springs who serves in the U.S. Air Force and has been deployed to ten countries; Major Brandy Johnson of Nashville who serves in the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Pilot and participated in multiple freedom operations; and Staff Sergeant Brenda Curry of Clarksville who serves in the U.S. Army and has been deployed to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan will receive Military Service Tribute Rifles when they retire from active duty service.
Veteran recipients included Edgar Harrell of Clarksville who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is one of only 317 to survive the sinking of The Indianapolis in WW2; David Gray of Springfield who served in the U.S. Army in Iraq where he saved the lives of several of his men when he shielded them from an improvised explosive device and was later wounded during a rocket attack, Jimmy Gentry of Franklin who served as Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army and fought overseas in WW2; Linc Van Sickel of Somerset, PA who served in the U.S. Army in Korea; J.T. Tenpenny of Nashville who spent 28 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during Vietnam; Jack Spangler of Goodlettsville who served as a Buck Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; Ray Harvey of Nashville who served as a Captain in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam; Charles York of Kingsport who served in the U.S. Air Force in the Gulf War; Dana Nicholson of Clarksville who served as a Captain and Nurse in the U.S. Army in Iraq; Bill Slocum of Lebanon who served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan and Lt. Colonel Chuck Haley of Adams who served in the U.S. Air Force and flew missions over Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and the Persian Gulf.

Leroy Farris, a NRA Instructor of Rockvale received a Henry Silver Eagle rifle.
Active Duty Recipients were Staff Sergeant Brenda Curry of Clarksville who serves in the U.S. Army and has been deployed to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan; Major Brandy Johnson of Nashville who serves in the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Pilot and participated in multiple freedom operations; Master Sergeant Heather Yates of Estill Springs who serves in the U.S. Air Force and has been deployed to ten countries; and Danielle Panting of Nashville who serves in the U.S. Navy and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait. As active-duty service members are not permitted to accept the rifles, their rifles will be donated to the individuals’ local American Legion posts. Imperato promised each of them a raincheck for the rifles upon their retirements.
Imperato said the impetus for this presentation was that he was “tired of gun owners getting a black eye,” and wanted to highlight the positive side of firearm ownership. “I wanted to show the world how great the firearm industry is and how good law-abiding gun owners are.” Thus he formed “Guns for Great Causes” with his company, which financially supports charitable causes such as sick children, wounded veterans and youth shooting sports programs. Watch Anthony explain more during the video interview with Mark Keefe, Editor-In-Chief of American Rifleman.
A record breaking sum of $100,000 was raised by The NRA Foundation’s auction of a legendary Henry lever-action rifle from 1865 paired with serial number one of the new Original Henry Rifle. Henry Repeating Arms donated the rifles to be auctioned together to benefit The NRA Foundation, America’s leading charitable organization in support of the organizations and programs that ensure the legacy of hunting and the shooting sports. The auction was hosted by GunBroker.com and concluded today at the end of the 2014 NRA National Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana. The two-gun set yielded $83,025 at auction and Henry Repeating Arms contributed an additional $16,975 to round it off to $100,000 to benefit the NRA.
The two-gun set included the well-worn Model 1860 Henry, serial number 8261 manufactured in 1865, used to reverse-engineer Benjamin Tyler Henry’s classic design and develop the tooling for the new Original Henry Rifle line. Completing the pair was the Original Henry Deluxe Engraved serial number BTH0001, the first Henry produced in nearly 150 years. The new hardened brass-framed .44-40-cal. rifle’s receiver was hand-engraved by the artisans at Baron Engraving of Trumbull, CT, featuring period style engraving. Additionally, the rifle sported a one-piece 24 ½” octagonal barrel/tubular feed, a genuine American fancy walnut buttstock, and a classic folding ladder rear sight paired with a traditional blade front sight. The auction items included a certificate of authenticity provided by Henry Repeating Arms.
“The pair of Henry rifles we donated in support of The National NRA Foundation is a small token of our appreciation” said Anthony Imperato, President of Henry Repeating Arms. “The NRA has been by our side since Day One and we are eternally grateful to them for defending our Second Amendment rights, for upholding the traditions of hunting and the shooting sports, and for their tireless efforts to promote firearms safety.”
Other recent auctions of the new Original Henry Rifle yielded $85,000 for the USA Olympic Shooting Team and $50,825 for the Hunting Heritage Foundation.
“Henry’s generous support over the last two decades has been vital to The NRA Foundation’s success at its national events,” said John DaSilva, National Manager of Events and Marketing. “We were honored to have the opportunity to auction these historically rich Henry rifles at this year’s NRA Foundation Banquet and raise money for the next generation of shooting sports enthusiasts.”

United States Senator Rand Paul admires the Henry Big Boy with Patrick Rhodes of the Republican Party of Arkansas
United States Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was the guest speaker at a Tusk Club Dinner entitled “United We Stand to Welcome Rand.”. The event was hosted by the Republican Party of Arkansas. A Henry Big Boy RPA presentation model was made in honor of the distinguished Senators visit.
The event was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas on January 31, 2014. The crowd was standing room only.
Henry Repeating Arms, Baron Engraving and recent participants at The Sheep Show have helped provide valuable funding the USA Shooting Team will use in 2014 to achieve greatness on the ranges throughout the world. A new Original Henry Rifle Deluxe Engraved .44-40 was auctioned by the USA Shooting Team during the February 22-25 Sheep Show in Reno, Nev., and helped raise $85,000 in support of the team.
Henry Repeating Arms donated the new Original Henry Rifle with special serial number USAGOLD1 and Baron Technology, Inc. proudly provided its hand-engraving services to create a signature look to the popular rifle. An identical rifle was also auctioned off at the Dallas Safari Club Convention in early January and another will be available for auction at the upcoming Western Hunting and Conservation Expo, February 13-16, in cooperation with the Mule Deer Foundation.
The revolutionary Henry lever action-repeating rifle was the most important firearm of its time and went on to become one of the most legendary American firearms of all time. Patented in 1860 and used during the Civil War, the rifle’s rapid-fire capability and high-capacity tubular magazine stood in amazing contrast to its single-shot musket counterparts.
“When I announced at a lunchtime meeting attended by all Henry employees that the rifle they had built and donated to the USA Shooting Team raised $85,000, we had a standing ovation with a chant of USA, USA! It doesn’t get any better than that,” said Anthony Imperato, President and owner of the company.
The engraving on the hardened brass receiver was hand-cut by Baron Custom Shop’s artisan Heidi Roos, who says: “Inspired by Louis Daniel Nimschke from his record book of originals, the scrollwork design is in the American style: a floral and leaf motif, intricately detailed and surrounding an open banner. The receiver’s top is decorated with simple linear motif, and the butt plate is decorated with America scroll on the back, with the USA Shooting Team logo and 2014 on the top.”
“We couldn’t be more appreciative of Henry Repeating Arms, Baron Engraving, the Wild Sheep Foundation and those USA Shooting Team supporters for the generosity they continue to exhibit,” acknowledged USA Shooting Team Foundation Executive Director Buddy DuVall. “With Rio in Sight and an important year of World Championships as well as Olympic and Paralympic qualifying now upon us, the money raised on behalf of the USA Shooting Team is a tremendous boost to our team and helps keep us competitive with the competition.”
The Sheep Show is the annual convention and fundraiser for USA Shooting conservation partner Wild Sheep Foundation and featured hundreds of exhibitors, entertainers, educational events, as well as auctions and nightly banquets. The event’s live auctions featured nearly $5 million in hunts, trips, art, firearms, equipment and more special conservation permits than any other convention or wildlife show.
USA Shooting Team members participating in the Show included 2012 Olympian Frank Thompson (Alliance, NE.), National Team members Amber English (Colorado Springs, CO.) and Jake Wallace (Castaic, CA.), along with World Cup medalists Kayle Browning (Wooster, AR.) and Caitlin Connor (Winnfield, LA.). Team members participated in the USA Shooting/WSF Sporting Clays event at the Capitol City Gun Club and served as the color guard as well at the event’s Opening Ceremony.
Louis Zamperini, a runner in the 1936 Olympics, served in the U.S. Air Force as a bombardier in the South Pacific during World War II. When his aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean in April 1942 he and another crew member survived in a life raft for 47 days, drifting 2000 miles until they reached land, only to be captured by the Japanese Navy. He was held in captivity and tortured in a series of prison camps, and for three years the sadistic prison guards tried to break his spirit with verbal and physical cruelty.
They couldn’t.
When the war ended in August 1945 Zamperini decided to become a missionary to Japan, preaching the gospel of forgiveness to the very guards who tormented him. His remarkable power of example inspired Anthony Imperato, President and owner of Henry Repeating Arms to create a Henry Golden Boy Military Service Tribute Edition rifle featuring a custom serial number combing his initials and date of birth LSZ012617. The rifle was presented in a display case with a brass plaque engraved “Presented to Mr. Louis Zamperini “ October 29th 2013 “ Thank you for your service to our Country and for teaching us about courage, survival and the power of forgiveness”.
During the presentation Imperato stated, “We salute and thank Mr. Zamperini for bravely serving our country with dignity and perseverance. His incredible courage and ability to forgive those who tortured him during the War are an inspiration to all”. Henry Repeating Arms will manufacture a limited edition series of rifles in tribute to Mr. Zamperini, the proceeds of which will be donated to the POW MIA Foundation, a not for profit organization ran solely by volunteers and veterans dedicated to giving closure and assistance to the families of missing or imprisoned soldiers, as well as attend to the needs of wounded soldiers returning from more current wars.
A biography of Zamperini’s life was written by Laura Hillenbrand, author of Seabiscuit: An American Legend. The book, titled Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, was published by Random House in 2010 and became a #1 The New York Times bestseller. It’s been adapted into a movie written by Joel and Ethan Coen and directed by Angelina Jolie. Unbroken is expected to be released by Universal Pictures this Christmas.
