The Henry Repeating Arms and the Colonial Rifle and Pistol Club sponsored a day at the range for the children and families of the New York City chapter of the Ronald McDonald House. Children from all over the world participated, many shooting a rifle for the first time. We would like to thank the memebrs and Instructors from the Colonial Rifle and Pistol Club for donating their time to make it a most enjoyable event for all those that attended.
Licensed by the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, manufactured exclusively by Henry Repeating Arms, all proceeds to benefit Farmers and Hunters Feed the Hungry NEW JERSEY, January 29, 2009 – A Henry Golden Boy Lincoln Bicentennial Commemorative rifle, serial number 6, will be auctioned to mark the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. MSRP is $1200.
The online auction is being held now at GunBroker.com. The bidding ends at 11:00 pm EST on Thursday, February 12, 2009. Proceeds will be donated to Farmers and Hunters Feed the Hungry, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) faith-based feeding ministry that enables hunters to return to their heritage as food providers.
Lincoln owned the original Henry rifle in serial #6 which now resides in the Smithsonian and is considered a priceless national treasure “Lincoln was a very religious man and his favorite devotional reading spoke of being charitable to the less fortunate”, says Anthony Imperato, owner and President of the company. This auction was inspired by the words of Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address in 1865 that began, “With malice toward none; with charity for all…”.
Henry Repeating Arms is the exclusive licensee, appointed by The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, a Federal agency established to honor this great American milestone. The rifle is being produced limited run of 2000 pieces.
Tribute features include a cameo portrait of Abraham Lincoln and a replica image of the Lincoln Memorial laser etched and hand painted into the American Walnut wooden stock; hand engraved replication of the scrollwork originally hand cut to adorn Lincoln’s rifle, and BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, the words he movingly asserted as cornerstones of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.

Supporting America’s military in their time of need, Fisher House provides a “home away from home” that enables family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time – during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. $583,000 was raised at the recent Fisher House Golf Tournement. Jackie Shaw’s usual method of securing items for the Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament auction is a four-letter word: beg.
“I’m the one writing letters to Justin Timberlake asking for something with his autograph on it,” says Shaw, chairperson of the charity tournament.
Imagine her surprise, then, when back in November she received an e-mail from a gentleman named Anthony Imperato, who is president of Henry Repeating Arms of Brooklyn, N.Y. Imperato wrote that he wanted to donate two custom-engraved rifles for the auction.
“Completely out of the blue,” Shaw says. “I had never heard of this company before, never heard from this man before. But I loved it. I was so shocked somebody so far out of this area would know about this event and want to do something to help.”
After months of exchanging e-mails to complete the project, the result is this: When the auction is held June 26, two of the items up for bid will be a pair of special edition Henry rifles with detailed Maris engravings on the stocks and receivers.
Suggested retail values are $500 for the .22-caliber “Golden Boy” and $1,000 for the .44 magnum “Big Boy.” And the possible value at auction?
“We do special editions for organizations like Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, Quail Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and our rifles always perform very well at fundraisers,” Imperato says. “These are one of kind rifles. We won’t make them again. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Big Boy gets $3,000 or $4,000.”
In New York, maybe. But this is Fargo, and Fargo being Fargo there’s the chance the guns might fetch significantly less.
No matter, they will be among the big-ticket items at the auction, which last year raised a record $43,485.
There are questions that begged to be asked about this act of generosity. Like, how did a Brooklyn businessman learn about a charity golf tournament in North Dakota? And, what possessed him to donate such valuable items?
The answer to the first question is brief.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t recall,” Imperato says.
The second answer is more interesting.
The 47-year-old Imperato is a self-described lifelong, diehard Yankees fan dating to his youth in the early 1960s. His 14-year-old son, also named Anthony, was born with the same gene – with a kicker. “He’s seen the move ’61*’ about 400 times and has fallen in love with Roger Maris,” Imperato says. “Anthony loves baseball, but really admires Roger Maris – his character and they way he conducted himself. Roger was a quiet, humble player. He just really took a liking to him.”
So, whenever and however Imperato learned of the Maris tournament – which raises money for Shanley High School, the Red River Valley Hospice and Meritcare’s Roger Maris Cancer Center – he decided he wanted to do something to help.
The rifles, which will soon be displayed at the 13th Ave. S. Scheels store, are remarkably embellished with images of Maris’ face, the slugger swinging a bat and even the famed Yankee Stadium facade.
And this year is just the start. Imperato says his company will donate two rifles each year, always with different engravings, to establish a Roger Maris special edition collector’s series.

Shortly, thousands of women and men will unite in cities across the country and walk 60 miles over the course of three days. It’s a weekend of hope, as each of us honor lives lost, celebrates survivors, promotes breast cancer research, and helps bring breast cancer care to those who so desperately need it.
Each participant in the Breast Cancer 3-Day commits to raising at least $2,200 for the cause. These Breast Cancer 3-Days have helped thousands of people raise millions of dollars. I am trying to do my small part in doing something that most people have never dared to do Ð go the extra mile to beat breast cancer.
Where the Money Goes
Net proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, to fund breast cancer research, education, screening, treatment, and community outreach as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide a special field of interest (endowment) fund for breast cancer initiatives.
You don’t have to be an athlete or walker to participate. This event is for all kinds of people – mothers, fathers, daughters, grandparents, friends, breast cancer survivors. All you need is compassion, desire, and a commitment to fighting breast cancer.
My Small Part
Chances are we all either have a family member or friend who has battled this disease. I personally have known many women who have sufferedÉsome have survived others were less fortunate. The keys to the cure are funding, a greater awareness in the community and early detection.
While I wonÕt be participating in the walk I wanted to come up with a way that I could raise a small amount of money for this important cause within our business circles. So, I have partnered with a good friend of mine, and owner of Henry Repeating Arms, Anthony Imperato of Brooklyn, NY, in offering up for auction a brand new Henry Golden Boy Deluxe. This is a masterfully engraved .22 magnum version of their very popular Golden Boy line of guns. MSRP for this gun is $1,300.
My uncle Dave Massey has been gracious enough to start the bidding/auction off at $500. The bidding will close on August 18th. The winner of this auction will be photographed with the gun in hand with that photograph to then be used and promoted on the Henry website.
If you choose to bid on this item just send me an email (listed below) with your bid amount. I will keep track and send out periodic word doc. email updates as this auction progresses. If you are the winning bidder and are from outside of Washington state I will make arrangements to have the gun shipped to an FFL near your home.
