Man speaking at podium during the National Rifle Association Foundation banquet in 2014A record breaking sum of $100,000 was raised by The NRA Foundation’s auction of a legendary Henry lever-action rifle from 1865 paired with serial number one of the new Original Henry Rifle.  Henry Repeating Arms donated the rifles to be auctioned together to benefit The NRA Foundation, America’s leading charitable organization in support of the organizations and programs that ensure the legacy of hunting and the shooting sports. The auction was hosted by GunBroker.com and concluded today at the end of the 2014 NRA National Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana. The two-gun set yielded $83,025 at auction and Henry Repeating Arms contributed an additional $16,975 to round it off to $100,000 to benefit the NRA.

The two-gun set included the well-worn Model 1860 Henry, serial number 8261 manufactured in 1865, used to reverse-engineer Benjamin Tyler Henry’s classic design and develop the tooling for the new Original Henry Rifle line. Completing the pair was the Original Henry Deluxe Engraved serial number BTH0001, the first Henry produced in nearly 150 years. The new hardened brass-framed .44-40-cal. rifle’s receiver was hand-engraved by the artisans at Baron Engraving of Trumbull, CT, featuring period style engraving. Additionally, the rifle sported a one-piece 24 ½” octagonal barrel/tubular feed, a genuine American fancy walnut buttstock, and a classic folding ladder rear sight paired with a traditional blade front sight. The auction items included a certificate of authenticity provided by Henry Repeating Arms.

“The pair of Henry rifles we donated in support of The National NRA Foundation is a small token of our appreciation” said Anthony Imperato, President of Henry Repeating Arms. “The NRA has been by our side since Day One and we are eternally grateful to them for defending our Second Amendment rights, for upholding the traditions of hunting and the shooting sports, and for their tireless efforts to promote firearms safety.”

Other recent auctions of the new Original Henry Rifle yielded $85,000 for the USA Olympic Shooting Team and $50,825 for the Hunting Heritage Foundation.

“Henry’s generous support over the last two decades has been vital to The NRA Foundation’s success at its national events,” said John DaSilva, National Manager of Events and Marketing.  “We were honored to have the opportunity to auction these historically rich Henry rifles at this year’s NRA Foundation Banquet and raise money for the next generation of shooting sports enthusiasts.”

us-shooting3Henry Repeating Arms, Baron Engraving and recent participants at The Sheep Show have helped provide valuable funding the USA Shooting Team will use in 2014 to achieve greatness on the ranges throughout the world. A new Original Henry Rifle Deluxe Engraved .44-40 was auctioned by the USA Shooting Team during the February 22-25 Sheep Show in Reno, Nev., and helped raise $85,000 in support of the team.

Henry Repeating Arms donated the new Original Henry Rifle with special serial number USAGOLD1 and Baron Technology, Inc. proudly provided its hand-engraving services to create a signature look to the popular rifle. An identical rifle was also auctioned off at the Dallas Safari Club Convention in early January and another will be available for auction at the upcoming Western Hunting and Conservation Expo, February 13-16, in cooperation with the Mule Deer Foundation.

us-shootingThe revolutionary Henry lever action-repeating rifle was the most important firearm of its time and went on to become one of the most legendary American firearms of all time. Patented in 1860 and used during the Civil War, the rifle’s rapid-fire capability and high-capacity tubular magazine stood in amazing contrast to its single-shot musket counterparts.

“When I announced at a lunchtime meeting attended by all Henry employees that the rifle they had built and donated to the USA Shooting Team raised $85,000, we had a standing ovation with a chant of USA, USA! It doesn’t get any better than that,” said Anthony Imperato, President and owner of the company.

The engraving on the hardened brass receiver was hand-cut by Baron Custom Shop’s artisan Heidi Roos, who says: “Inspired by Louis Daniel Nimschke from his record book of originals, the scrollwork design is in the American style: a floral and leaf motif, intricately detailed and surrounding an open banner. The receiver’s top is decorated with simple linear motif, and the butt plate is decorated with America scroll on the back, with the USA Shooting Team logo and 2014 on the top.”

“We couldn’t be more appreciative of Henry Repeating Arms, Baron Engraving, the Wild Sheep Foundation and those USA Shooting Team supporters for the generosity they continue to exhibit,” acknowledged USA Shooting Team Foundation Executive Director Buddy DuVall. “With Rio in Sight and an important year of World Championships as well as Olympic and Paralympic qualifying now upon us, the money raised on behalf of the USA Shooting Team is a tremendous boost to our team and helps keep us competitive with the competition.”

The Sheep Show is the annual convention and fundraiser for USA Shooting conservation partner Wild Sheep Foundation and featured hundreds of exhibitors, entertainers, educational events, as well as auctions and nightly banquets. The event’s live auctions featured nearly $5 million in hunts, trips, art, firearms, equipment and more special conservation permits than any other convention or wildlife show.

USA Shooting Team members participating in the Show included 2012 Olympian Frank Thompson (Alliance, NE.), National Team members Amber English (Colorado Springs, CO.) and Jake Wallace (Castaic, CA.), along with World Cup medalists Kayle Browning (Wooster, AR.) and Caitlin Connor (Winnfield, LA.). Team members participated in the USA Shooting/WSF Sporting Clays event at the Capitol City Gun Club and served as the color guard as well at the event’s Opening Ceremony.

The auction of a spectacular hand-engraved B. Tyler Henry Tribute rifle attracted crowds as the 2014 SHOT Show Auction Rifle while generating enthusiastic bidding that soared to $50,825.00 on GunBroker.com.

The auction rifle was a presentation grade Original Henry, marking the first production of the Original Henry rifle design in 150 years. The gun was engraved as a tribute to B. Tyler Henry, who designed the iconic rifle in 1860. The engraving featured a likeness of Mr. Henry of the right side of the receiver and a representation of the original factory on the left.

“We were honored to have this tribute to B. Tyler Henry selected as the 2014 SHOT Show auction rifle and were proud when the bidding reached $50,825 on the final day of the show,” announced Henry Repeating Arms CEO, Anthony Imperato. “We are grateful to NSSF for this opportunity, to GunBroker.com for providing extraordinary bidding activity and, of course, to the high bidder who will be adding this special rifle to his collection,” Imperato said.

The high bidder, whose name was withheld by request, e-mailed GunBroker.com immediately after the auction, exclaiming, “When I first saw this rifle on GunBroker.com, I knew I wanted it but figured owning it would be impossible. However, the more I looked at the rifle and the quality of the engraving and the more I considered the rifle’s history, I knew I had to be the high bidder. I can’t explain how excited or proud I am to be the owner of this Henry masterpiece.”

The rifle was engraved by the artisans at Baron Engraving in Trumbull, Connecticut. Baron has engraved more SHOT Show auction guns than any other engraver or manufacturer.

The SHOT Show Auction proceeds will benefit programs in support of America’s hunting and shooting sports heritage. Bob Delfay, President of the Hunting Heritage Trust, presented Mr. Imperato with a brass plaque and framed photograph of the gun in appreciation of Henry’s donation of the extraordinary rifle. In presenting the award, Delfay said, “This rifle represents a work of firearms artistry befitting a tribute to B. Tyler Henry and the iconic Henry rifle. Its auction will provide significant support for efforts to foster America’s hunting and shooting traditions for future generations.”

The 2014 auction marked the 11th consecutive year that the auction was presented exclusively on GunBroker.com, the world’s largest internet auction site for firearms and related outdoor equipment.

yssa-logo-orangeThe Henry Repeating Arms Company generously donated 200 Henry Lever Action Youth .22 rifles to the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA). The rifles will be used to create a special YSSA 2014 edition to support the vital mission of the YSSA.

Imperato added “We are proud to partner with the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance in continuing Henry’s long history of support of youth shooting sports programs. We know that we can count on the YSSA to utilize the funds generated by the sale of this special edition of rifles in support of programs that have the greatest potential return on our industry’s investment based on their potential for growth and participation.”

The YSSA 2014 Edition of the Henry Lever Action Youth .22 rifle will be sold by Ellett Brothers, a subsidiary of United Sporting Companies. All proceeds from the sale of these rifles will go directly to the YSSA. “We believe there’s no better way to ensure the shooting sports industry continues to thrive than to give today’s young people access to local shooting programs, facilities and equipment that are safe, positive and inspire a lifelong passion for shooting and hunting.” said Chuck Walker, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for United Sporting Companies. “We have worked with the YSSA for several years and have been impressed with their proven record in identifying and supporting the needs of successful and safe youth programs and venues that create measurable increases in youth participation in the shooting sports.”

nra-sports-logoJust before Christmas, NRA was thrilled to learn that Henry Repeating Arms was donating 150 rifles for use in youth training activities.

Training young people in the safe, responsible use of firearms has been at the heart of NRA’s mission since 1903, when a formal effort was launched to establish rifle clubs in America’s major colleges and universities. The effort has grown dramatically over the years, both because of public demand and in response to escalating threats to our firearms freedoms.

Today, NRA Youth Programs staff provide a wide variety of services in shooting sports for groups like the Boy Scouts, 4-H, National FFA, JROTC, The American Legion, as well as thousands of shooting clubs nationwide. These services may include instructor training, grant funding, program development, training materials, record keeping, promotion, awards, etc.

Tens of thousands of kids are introduced to shooting annually through these programs, conducted or supported by NRA. The rifles generously donated by Henry will be used in these venues, as well as in some women’s programs like the Women’s Wilderness escape, and instructor training for major groups like the Boy Scouts, 4-H and the National High School Rodeo Association – all of which conduct youth shooting education programs.

“Exposing young people to firearms training is the single most critical endeavor to ensuring the future of the shooting sports in America. Making sure our participants and instructor candidates have quality-built firearms is critically important to these programs,” said Larry Quandahl, Manager of NRA’s Youth Programs Department. “We are very grateful to Henry for their continued generosity. Their support contributes greatly to the growth of the shooting sports.”

nra-anthony-imperato“Henry Repeating Arms will continue to support youth shooting sports programs to the best of our ability. We are proud to be affiliated with NRA Youth programs and other outstanding youth shooting sports programs such as the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance, National 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, International Hunters Education Association and the many wildlife organizations that also promote youth shooting activities” – Anthony Imperato
