The Henry Lever Action Axe .410 features a unique “axe handle” grip and an overall length of 26.4-inches, which classifies it as a non-NFA firearm. The MSRP is $970.
RICE LAKE, WI – December 19, 2019 – Henry, the leading lever action firearms manufacturer, introduced today a unique addition to their product line with the announcement of the Lever Action Axe .410, a non-NFA lever action firearm featuring a side loading gate and a signature “axe handle” grip. Now available at licensed firearms dealers nationwide, this new firearm is not regulated under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ National Firearms Act and will not require a tax stamp to purchase.
Anthony Imperato, President and owner of Henry Repeating Arms explains, “Our Mare’s Leg lever action pistols have been a popular choice among shooting sports enthusiasts for many years now, mainly because they’re so fun to shoot and the fact that they look like they came right out of a Western movie.” Imperato continues, “The Axe shares a similar form factor to our Mare’s Leg with some added features for more versatility.”

Details of the Henry Lever Action Axe .410 include an engraving of Henry’s logo on the bottom of the genuine American walnut grip, a side loading gate, a brass bead front sight, and a threaded barrel for invector chokes.
The Lever Action Axe .410 stresses the importance of a unique firearm that’s fun to use in a recreational setting, but it’s feature set also lends it utility. With a barrel length of just under 16-inches and an overall length of just over 26-inches the Axe can be stored in far more places than an average long gun. This compact stature opens the possibilities of where the Axe can be stored and used. The magazine, which holds 5 rounds of 2 ½” .410 shells can be continuously topped off through the side loading gate without needing to remove a tube magazine until the firearm needs to be unloaded. The round blued steel barrel is topped with a polished brass bead front sight and threaded for invector style chokes. A removable full choke is included out of the box. The bottom of the genuine American walnut “axe handle” grip is engraved on the bottom with Henry Repeating Arms’ cowboy logo.
The new Lever Action Axe .410 (model H018AH-410) has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $970. More Information »

Henry unveiled the latest addition to its lineup of American made firearms to the public today during the opening day of the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Indianapolis, IN. The introduction of the Henry Side Gate Lever Action rifle marks the very first time the company has offered a lever action rifle with a loading gate. The rifle can also be loaded through a removable magazine tube, making it a unique proposition in lever action offerings.
The side loading gate below the ejection port allows the user to fully load the rifle’s 5-round magazine or keep it topped off without removing the magazine tube. The rifle’s removable magazine tube provides another method of loading the rifle and a safe, efficient way of unloading the rifle without having to work the action to cycle live rounds through the action.

The loading gate below the ejection port allows for easy magazine top-offs while the removable tube magazine makes for easy unloading. The receiver is made of solid hardened brass.
The new Henry Side Gate is offered in calibers 30-30, 38-55 and 35 Rem. The receiver of the rifle utilizes Henry’s signature hardened brass, which has the same tensile and yield strength as steel, and comes drilled and tapped to accept a scope base. The American walnut stock is laser engraved with deep checkering and scrollwork, with the forearm inset with the “HENRY” name. The round 20-inch blued steel barrel uses rifling with varying twist rates depending on the caliber and features a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and an ivory bead front sight. There are no external safety features on the Side Gate Lever Action rifle. A patented in-hammer sliding transfer bar safety guarantees the rifle will not fire unless the hammer is cocked and the trigger is pulled. The manufacturers suggested retail price is $1,045.
“The advent of the new Henry Side Gate solidifies Henry Repeating Arms as the first name in lever actions. For those who have been patiently waiting on a Henry with a loading gate, we have delivered – and then some,” says Henry President and owner Anthony Imperato.
The Vice President and General Manager of Henry Repeating Arms, Andy Wickstrom continues, “It is no accident that our modern lever action rifles take inspiration from the legendary 1860’s era Henry rifle that started it all. Today’s Henry firearms retain classic looks but take advantage of state-of-the-art technology to build reliable, accurate and modern lever actions that are second-to-none. However, there has always been a segment of the market that prefers a loading gate. With the dual loading options, it’s the best of both worlds.”
