If you’ve never hunted elk before then welcome to a whole new 4-legged world. Elk are massive animals and taking one down and out of its habitat is no easy task. Due to their size and toughness, shot placement and caliber selection are crucial.

All of the hunting rifles below will take down elk, but do consider your anticipated shot distances when choosing the caliber. Please note that some of the rifles below are available in both .30-30 and .45-70 calibers, however we recommend a .45-70 caliber for hunting elk.
